Nite Ride
Combining contemporary soundscapes with our most ubiquitous form of transportation, Artengine brings you Nite Ride – a permanent sound installation for car stereos. Commissioned by Artengine, with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Tim Hecker and Marla Hlady have each created new rich sound pieces for a nighttime driving experience. More than just new sound art pieces however, these works are designed to play over the course of a specific driving route which the artists have mapped out for the audience.

From October 23rd to October 31st Artengine will present these new audio works on a 5.1 surround sound bus tour designed by the artists themselves. Starting from Arts Court a tour bus equipped with a special stereo system will take passengers on a creative driving experience unlike any other. The routes and sounds, designed and scored by two of Canada’s most innovative sound artists, will fuse sound sculpture and a cinematic road trip into a lush hour-long tour of the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

We know you will want to take the trip again and again, and so on October 31st both works, alongside Google Maps and PDF downloads, will be available for free from the Artengine website. So when your friends come down from Montréal to visit, show them a side of the city they have never seen. Take them on a Nite Ride!
